This tour of King Gesar's cultural research has created the ceiling of domestic research activities. Principal Zhou led four students, totally five people in a car, for 23 days, from July 30 to August 21, 2023, a total journey of 7234 kilometers, across Chongqing, Sichuan, Qinghai, Tibet, Yunnan five provinces and regions, had gone through all kinds of hardships and difficulties and ended perfectly. This is a journey that is almost impossible to replicate. It takes all kinds of coincidence and overcoming all kinds of risks, including car conditions, driving skills, physical strength, experience, courage, weather, luck, to meet the right people and scenery at the right time, in the right place. Along the way, the small Zenkers got a warm welcome from Tibetan friends, each received four pieces of hada. While enjoying the magnificent natural scenery of Sichuan-Tibet, the students also listened to the stories of King Gesar told by people from all over Tibetan areas, watched horse races in Nagqu Gesar Racetrack, listened to Tibetan artists rap the epic "King Gesar", volunteered to teach in Malu Township Central Primary School in Baqing County, and interacted with Tibetan students. All the expenses of this trip will be recorded and shared by the students.
The Zenker party entered from the east line of the Tang Fan Road into Tibet, get out of Tibet along Bingchazuo line. The two climax cross-country crossing routes witnessed everyone's courage and perseverance, and the students also realized the hardships of Princess Wencheng's entry into Tibet. The trip experienced many risks, all of which were overcome by the students. On the second day of the trip, a student suffered from severe altitude sickness, hypothermia and breathing difficulties at the foot of Zimei Yakou mountain at an altitude of 3,800 meters. Parents called to discuss whether to return to Chongqing in Kangding Idushan Airport the next day, Principal Zhou hesitated again and again, decided to observe one or two days, through oxygen inhalation, drinking glucose, sticking Aixiaotie, so that the classmate's symptoms relieved to continue the journey, because such a journey once in a lifetime, there will be no more. Finally, the student insisted on completing the whole trip, fully adapted to the high altitude area, and survived the 4800 meters of Nagqu. In the middle of the mountain at Zimei Yakou, some cars dared not go up again for fear of the road was rotten and dangerous. A crane is rescuing a car that overturned halfway up the hill. On the fifth day of my trip, I had a brush with death on a rural road in the Ashu grasslands. The path meandered along the Yalong River. The road was narrow and bends fast, and the other car was coming too fast. After taking a turn and taking up the road, mishandled the way, slammed the direction, and overturned into the Yalong River. On the eighth night, on the old Tang Fan Road that arrived at Dopu Temple, the palms were sweating while driving late at night, and the students panicked in their hearts, subconsciously thinking that this was an exploration waiting for Godot, and collectively collapsed to sing: The wind is up. In Tibet Biru County into Biba County mountain canyon road, late at night found that the narrow road was neatly placed a number of large stones blocked, stone spacing is equal, so that the Jeep Wrangler can not cross. We suspected road thieves do it.
This trip also suffered two tire bursts, the first tire burst in the 3800 meters of Sapu Mountain out of the mountain road, a socket wrench broke, another twist into a twist. The second tire burst was at the Nujiang V-shaped Canyon viewing platform in Bingchacha, where there were rotten road in front and back, and the nearest town was 50 kilometers away. Some students broke down and cried as they waited for help in the dark night.
Falling rocks all the way, and bad weather always passed.
These are finally saved, after the tests of eighty- one difficulties, everyone successfully completed the trip, safely returned to Chongqing. On the way back, Principal Zhou asked the students a question that summed up the trip: Why do the Tibetan people like and worship King Gesar so much? The students' answers was added up to almost a complete answer. Because King Gesar is a civilian hero who came to the throne through horse racing. But also because he got rid of the cruel and pacified the good people, helped the poor and the weak, rescued the damsel in distress. It is also because he unified the various tribes of the Tibetan people, put an end to the melee situation, and brought long-term peace to the people, such as the Tang Emperor and Song Emperor. He was worshipped because he was deified by monks as the reincarnation of Padmasambawa.
Finally, Principal Zhou talked about the difference between King Gesar's epic and Homer's epic in ancient Greece. There are striking similarities between the two, such as the Station of the Onion Ridge in King Gesar's epic poem and the Battle of Troy in Homer's Iliad, both waged a war to save a woman, and the time lasted more than nine to ten years. In the end, the side on behalf of justice wined. Both epics are celebrations of heroes and justice wars. However, Homer's epic is more than one thousand years earlier than King Gesar's epic, which is the representative of ancient Greek civilization at the same time as China's Western Zhou civilization. The epic of King Gesar is more of a civilian spirit, while the epic of Homer is more of a humanistic spirit. In the epic of King Gesar, King Gesar is deified. In Homer's epics, heroes and gods are equal. For example, Odysseus in Odyssey moved God, and God was endowed with humanistic color. In addition, the most important point is that King Gesar's epic is the only living epic in the world, the longest epic in the world, its length is hundreds of times that of Homer's epic, and it is still being sung by many artists and is constantly being perfected. A hundred years from now, King Gesar's epic will not look exactly like today's. On the other hand, Homer's epics only exist in the classics, and the content of 100 years later and now will not change.
The four students who participated in the activity are: Chen Mianzhu from Chongqing No. 1 Secondary School, WangPei Maoyu from Chongqing Yubei Data Valley Middle School, Li Sai from Chongqing Foreign Language School, and Gong Shenghao from Chongqing Renhe Primary School.
